SAVVY Caregiver Program
This week, in my series on insights from my doctoral dissertation, which focused on personalizing learning for care partners of people living with dementia, I’m highlighting additional educational resources I discovered on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
During my literature review, I developed a deep appreciation for the work of Ken Hepburn and his colleagues at Emory University and the University of Minnesota, who have spent over 30 years developing the SAVVY Caregiver program (savvycaregiver.com).
The SAVVY Caregiver program is a family caregiver training program designed to provide relevant dementia knowledge, care skills, and mastery to support family members as they provide care for people living with dementia. The program first began as in-person only and has now expanded to virtual Zoom sessions and watchable videos on their website. The SAVVY Caregiver program offers some of their educational videos online from their website, or you can find free in-person and virtual Zoom sessions in your local area by visiting https://savvycaregiver.com/find/.
