Who is Dr. Kevin Hanson?

Dr. Kevin Hanson is an educator, writer, information strategist, and caregiver advocate with a doctorate in Educational Technology (Ed.D.). Professionally, he has spent over two decades at the University of Florida working in research analytics and information services, turning complex data and evidence into accessible resources that help people make better decisions.

LifeAsCarers grew out of Kevin’s doctoral research on personalizing learning for care partners (carers) of people living with dementia. He saw the same challenge again and again: families are asked to shoulder enormous responsibility with few educational resources. LifeAsCarers was created to close that gap through practical, compassionate, and immediately usable information.

We use the terms “carer”, “caregiver”, and “care partner” because dementia care communities use these terms. The goal is to be inclusive and findable for everyone.

Philosophy: Personalized, practical, respectful

Safety & dignity: Information posted on LifeAsCarers.com considers safety and personhood, supporting the person living with dementia and the care partner together.

Personalized learning: People learn differently under stress. Resources on LifeAsCarers are structured to be easily accessible and action-oriented.

Evidence + empathy: We translate reputable sources (peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, respected organizations) into plain English and pair them with care partner realities.
